Three offices in the Hanna town government will be open in the 2014 primary and general Hanna elections. The mayor’s office term, a 4-year seat, expires this December 2014. The current mayor, Tony Poulos, has not decided whether or he will run again or not. Two 4-year council seats also expire this December, the ones currently held by William Klemola and Wendy Faldowski. Bill Klemola will not be running for re-election. He said, “I appreciate the people for voting for me,” but at 76, he feels “too old” for a 4-year term, and he would like to have three or four months of free time to get out of town for the winter. Wendy Faldowski’s status is unknown at this time. Tracy Fowler has filed her candidacy for one of the council seats.
Hanna citizens must file a form at the town hall stating their intention to run for office in order to appear on the primary and general election ballots. The filing period started on May 15, 2014 and ends May 30, 2014. There is a $25 filing fee. Once the filing period ends, candidates must be written in on the primary ballot in order to be in the Hanna elections. Candidates must be residents of Hanna who are registered to vote.
