The HEM Miners Football players earned several post season awards this year. Senior Trevor Rice earned a place on the All-State team and also 3rd Team Super 25, which is an honor picked from players from 1A to 4A teams. Trevor Rice, Wyatt Phillips, and Jarrett Neimark made the first team All-Conference. Jake Sutter, Celsey Meyer, Brandon Scott were named honorable mention All-Conference players. These players were notified and received certificates last Monday night at the HEM sports awards.
Rice had 2761 all purpose yards this season, setting an HEM record, and 40 TDs, also an HEM record. Neimark had 47 PAT kicks made, which ranked ninth in the nation for kickers. As a team, the Miners had over 4100 yards of offense this year. Wyatt Phillips had 24 tackles in one game, an HEM record, and 118 tackles overall, leading the state for this year. Jake Sutter threw for over 900 yards with 18 TDs and 2 Ints.
Head HEM football coach Zack Scott said, “Our team went 5 – 4 on the season and earned the third seed in the playoffs. Our team worked incredibly hard to build Miner Football into a winning and respected football team statewide. The foundation built by these kids will help our teams in the future grow and accomplish even more. We played for each other, as a Team, and the results are very evident. As their coach I am proud of our progress and very excited for the future.”
