Both the boys and the girls HEM Miners basketball teams dribbled, passed, and shot their way to victory against the Rock River Longhorns last Friday evening on 2/23/2014, much to the enjoyment of the large home crowd cheering them on at the HEM gym. The boys won their contest 44 to 38, and the girls won 43 to 27. Unfortunately, the road did not treat the boys as well as the girls the next day in Farson. The boys succumbed to the Pronghorn 58 to 49, but the Lady Miners prevailed 42 to 36 in Farson, extending the girls’ winning streak to ten games. The Lady Miners are now tied with Lingle-Fort Laramie for first place in the 1A Southeast division with 19 points each (unofficial stats). They have ten wins and three losses this season. As of 1/20/15, the HEM girls rank third in the state’s 1A teams in team rebounding and fourth in team defense.
