HEM Musical Events

Good luck soprano Bethany Roberts! On November 5th, Roberts will attend the All State auditions at Saratoga High School where she will perform scales, short excerpts of choir music, and demonstrate her ability in sight-singing.

On November 12th at 6:30 p.m., Ms. Glasser’s band and choir will perform patriotic and armed service hymns during the Veterans Appreciation Dinner at the H.E.M. multipurpose room, an event which is open to the community.

On November 24th and 25th, soprano Bethany Roberts and tenor Jiel Matthews will be attending Southeast District Choir in Cheyenne. SE District Choir is comprised of selected singers from Albany, Laramie and Carbon County schools. Choir members, numbering approximately 80 voices this year, perform at Cheyenne high schools annually. Rehearsals are all day on Monday, November 24th,  and all morning on Tuesday, November 25th.  The concert will be held after school dismissal.

The band and choir will perform locally at the high school all-purpose room on Tuesday, December 16th at 6:30 p.m., presenting “Celebration of Light,” the Winter Concert, consisting of mostly Chanukah and Christmas melodies.

In September, the band and choir shared a few moments of pep tunes for homecoming events. The new demands for curriculum studies and BOE (Body of Evidence) writing projects have taken a great deal of class time for the music students.  The classes have been required to explore and write about careers in music and currently are researching the history of occidental (Western European and American) musical events and correlations with literature and political events in the northern hemisphere.
