High Plains Powwow in Rawlins

Carbon County Museum invites you to the fourth annual High Plains Powwow at the Carbon County Fairgrounds. Join us on Saturday, September 10th to take in the majesty of Native American cultures through song and dance. Whether you are new to the powwow world, or are a veteran observer, this event is not one to miss.

This Northern Traditional style contest powwow is free to the public, and dancer registration is open to all tribes. Over $9,500 in cash prizes will be awarded to contestants in 22 classes of dance competitions. (Tribal ID is required for dancer registration).

The powwow starts with Grand Entry at 1 p.m. and ends after the awards presentation, which is scheduled to begin at 9 p,m.

Vendors are urged to bring their wares, as space is still available.

Camping is available at the fairgrounds, but be sure to call ahead to make arrangements. Hotel reservations can be made at a discounted price at the following locations in Rawlins (be sure to mention “High Plains Powwow”):
