Lifeguard Training

The Town of Hanna is looking for people interested in becoming a certified lifeguard for the Hanna Recreation Center. Training to start the first week of December. Deadline to apply for class is December 6, 2016 by 4:00 pm. Apply at the Rec Center.



Considerately and patiently enforce HANNA RECREATION CENTER rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees.

Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas and actions.

Maintain order in swimming areas.

Must be able to analyze situations and adopt a quick and effective course of action.

Maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify any signs of danger.

Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.

Provide first aid, rescue breathing and CPR when needed.

Maintain cleanliness of swimming pool areas.

Provide great customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service.

Follow and enforce the equipment checkout program.

Report defects, necessary repairs, etc.

Ensure that all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities is maintained and properly inventoried on a regular basis.

Perform set up and breakdown of facility equipment as needed.

Implement water chemical tests as determined by the Standard Operating Procedures.

Maintain records and generate reports regarding programs and operations as needed.

Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.

Must wear standard apparel as prescribed by the Aquatics Supervisor.

Must be aware you could be sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Must be willing to work mornings, afternoon-evenings, weekends, and some holidays

This is a part-time position, with flexible hours.
