Maisun Christie Places in Speech and Debate

Maisun Christie - Poetry Finalist

H.E.M. sophomore Maisun Christie earned fourth place in the finals of the Green River High School speech and debate competition on December 12th and 13th. She performed a piece entitled, “How to Heal the Hurt by Hating” by Anita Liberty. During the tournament, 297 competitors from 19 different schools were enrolled, utilizing over 100 different judges. Responses by judges to Maisun’s piece included, “I love your piece! Kept my interest the whole time.”

Maisun travels next to Cheyenne East for the Holiday Tournament on the weekend of December 19th and 20th.  David Freeman, a home school student, will join Maisun in Cheyenne. David plans to present a humor piece for his first performance, and then he will enter the Congress event, in which, much like in the Congress of the United States, competitors write bills or proposals and give speeches to address important changes for the betterment of society. David is brother to the 20143-2014 speech and debate captain, Aleck Freeman, a graduate of H.E.M. who is now attending Casper College.
