Six seniors were recognized before kickoff of the Kaycee vs. H.E.M. football game on Friday, October 24, 2014, Christian Gonzales, Celsey Meyer, Michael Lawson, Ty Pembleton, Trevor Rice, and Dakota Trump. Unfortunately, it was not a winning afternoon for the seniors’ last home game. Although the Miners mounted a formidable rally in the second half, the game ended 55-36 Kaycee. The loss placed the H.E.M. Miners in third place in the Six-Man East Football division, with Guernsey-Sunrise #1 seed and Kaycee #2. The Miners will play the #2 seed in the West Conference, Little Snake River, in Baggs next week.
As of October 28th, senior Trevor Rice led the Miners in rushing (145.0), passing (70.8), all-purpose offence (242.0), and scoring (66 points). Senior Celsey Meyer was the top receiver (228 total yards), and sophomore Jarrett Neimark led in individual defense (11.5 PT/GM), closely followed by Brandon Scott (11 PT/GM). Neimark also scored the longest field goal in the conference at 30 yards.
Miner Football Senior Recognition Biographies
Christian Gonzales is the son of Leonard and Vivian Gonzales. He attended Hanna Elementary on and off since the second grade. While at HEM Christian has been involved in football, basketball, and track. He is on pace to receive the Twelve Season Award by earning a varsity letter in all three sports during all four years of high school. After graduation he plans to work for a year and then would like to attend college but is undecided where.
Michael Lawson is the son of Tony and Deana Lawson. He has attended school in Hanna since Wee Folks. While at HEM Mike has been involved in FFA and is serving as the football manger for the first time. He would like to attend a tech school in the future and would like to become a diesel mechanic.
Celsey Meyer is the son of Becky Meyer. He started school in Hanna in Wee Folks. While at HEM, Celsey has been involved in four years of football and four years of basketball. He has also been involved in FFA, National Honor Society and H-Club. He plans to attend college next year in Sheridan where he will start on the path to become an athletic trainer.
Ty Pembleton is the son of Jeff and Dee Pembleton. He moved to Elk Mountain the start of his 10th grade year from Nebraska. While at HEM, Ty has been involved in football, basketball and FFA. After graduation, Ty plans to attend the University of Wyoming and will be studying general agriculture with plans to become a ranch manager sometime in the future.
Trevor Rice is the son of Shane and Lisa Rice and Tony and Deana Lawson. Trevor has attended school in Hanna since the sixth grade. He has been involved in FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, and National Honor Society. He will earn the Twelve Season Award for his participation in football, basketball, and track. After graduation he plans to attend Black Hills State University and will study science.
Dakota Trump is the son of Rebecca Trump. He started school here in the fifth grade, then moved to Michigan, came back in the seventh grade and, after stops in Rawlins and Cheyenne, he has been back at HEM since his sophomore year. While at HEM he has participated in football and wrestling. After graduation Dakota plans to enter the welding program at Casper College.
