Last Saturday was a good day for HEM football and volleyball. The Miners football team met the Hulett team in Midwest and defeated the Red Devils 62 to 18. Miner’s team co-captain, Trevor Rice, said that the game was a “test of the team’s strength,” a test they evidently aced. The Lady Miners were undefeated in the pool play at the HEM Invitational Volleyball Tournament, winning two out of two sets against Guernsey, St. Stephens, Farson, and Ten Sleep. Their most challenging opponent in the pool was the Farson Pronghorns. Last weekend at the Saratoga Tournament, the Lady Miners lost two out of three sets to the Pronghorns but got their own back by winning both sets this Saturday, 25-12 and 25-22. However, their loss to the Snake River Rattlers in the bracket play put the Lady Miners in second place overall. Ten teams participated in the tournament. The Lady Miners chalked up four conference points for their efforts.
